How
to Install/Get Started with YahElite Chat Client
The following instructions were written by a friend (thanks Pulp!)
The YahElite Chat Client can be found
at their homepage: http://www.yahelite.org/
Click on English, then Click on FULL YahElite
Click on DownLoad YahElite
Full (Next to the word FREE ).
Download the Program (I recommend saving the file to your 'My Documents'
folder)
Once saved, open your 'My Documents' folder,
then double click on the icon to install it.
After the Installation
is Complete
Click on the YahElite
Icon (Located on your Desk Top) to bring up the program.
You will see 2 screens,
One says "Login and Connect to Chat”
Type in your Account Name and Password in the correct fields (NOTE:
If using an account with Multiple NAMES on it, you must sign on
the MAIN Account name, in the Field on the Sign on Screen where
it says “Enter Chat Room As” – Here is where you can Enter your
Desired Nick )
Click "Load Account Information"wait
till the program says" Authenticating (your account name)
OK (edit.yahoo.com) Loading Aliases...Done.
Located in the blue box on the right hand side, then where you
see the word "CONNECT" Under your name and password, on
the Left of it, it should say "CHAT + PAGER"
Leave that alone!
This is the server connection you want.
Click "Connect".
The Program will connect and put you into a random Chat Room. You
may then enter the Chat Room of your choice.
Click on the lower Right side of the Program that states the room
you are currently in.
Click that once and a box will come up that says "Recent Rooms”
Click on "Get The List Of Yahoo Rooms".
Another window will open with the Yahoo Room Listings
Scroll to find the Category you want click on it and a list of rooms
under that Category will appear
Choose your room,
Click on it, if the room is full you will be Offered these Options:
*** The room (you are trying to enter) is full,
Try /knock or /join (the room of your choice)
Click on /Knock , YahElite will now start
Knocking your Name into your desired Room.
Private Messaging to
Avoid getting booted on Yahoo:
On the Top of YahElite Click on "Options
"
Scroll down and Click on "Private Messaging
"
A New Window will Pop up, and will say:
" Only allow Pm’s if they say the Magic Word" and "When
someone Pm’s without the Magic word Say"
Uncheck those two Boxes.
On the Right side of the Window from top to bottom there should
be a check in the following boxes:
( 1 )- Ignore pm’s and url’s from non
friends
( 2 )- Popup a pm box on in coming Pm’s
( 3 )- Always accept pm’s from Friends
( 4 )- Restrict pm’s to Friends Only
( 5 )- Accept Pm’s from Self
( 6 )- Quick Launch PM’s
SKIP #( 7 ) (Do not have this box checked)
( 8 )- Put all Non-Accepts Pm’s in the Reject Bar. Click OK.
NOTE:
To View your REJECTED Pm’s, on the Bottom of YaHElite
you will see a listing of Options
Click on Rejects to View your Rejected PM’s. (See illustrationbelow)
To Activate Voice in
the Room
Just above the typing area you will see some Icons such as a Smiley
Face, etc.
Click on the one that Looks like an Old Radio Microphone, a window
called YahVox should appear and "connect”,
If this doesn’t happen, you can click here to get YahVox.exe
Download the YahVox.exe and place it in the YahElite
Folder in your Computer
(This is on your C drive in your Programs Folder), then sound should
work fine.
To ignore someone on
voice/room
Simply double click on the persons
name and a red “X” will appear next to it. If at any time you wish
to hear that person simply double click again to make the “X” disappear.
If a person leaves the room with the “X” next to their name, when
they return it will still be there with the “X” next to it.
*To completely ignore someone you
must ignore them on voice if they are on it AND in the room list
to avoid seeing their text. Ignoring their text can be done by right
clicking on the individuals name and choosing the ignore option.
To Prevent Being Lagged
on Voice
Click here and get VcGuard
Save it to your desktop, then unzip it
( Follow the instructions for insstallation
) and you will Never be lagged on Voice or lock up again.
If You Are Getting Booted
Located above the typing area next to your Font colors are a set
of Dashes:
1 Dash, 2 Dashes, 3 Dashes, click on the 3 Dashes (Strong Spam Filtering)
this will make their attempt Futile.
To Activate Your WebCam
Simply click on the icon that resembles a typical webcam in order
for it to activate.
If you are having a problem with YahShow
you may return to the website and download YahShow
Install it in your C-Drive/Programs/YahEhlite
folder.
*If this does not solve
your problem*
First start your webcam.
Log on to Yahoo at chat.yahoo.com.
Enter chat area and click, continue.
Once you find a room to enter of your choice, click on "Chat
Tools”.
" Chat tools” is located on the left
hand side below the words Yahoo Chat.
Click on start webcam and it should be running and you will not
have to begin using your cam this way again.
You may now exit the chat room and sign on again to YahElite
and will have access to your cam.
Miscellaneous
To the left of the word “typing area” you will see:
1) a black dot, used for
regular typing so fonts of your choice will show up in room
2) 3 small blue circles which ALWAYS make your print show
in blue as a thought unless un-clicked
3) a heart which will be
shown as an emotion
The other tabs located on the bottom
are duplicates to those commands available on top in various other
tabs. These are shortcuts.The marquee
is used to notify you when people enter or leave the room you are
in. This will also provide you with names of those that are spamming,
booting, and those whom you put on ignore or make reappear. If the
marquee no longer moves, you may easily start it again just by clicking
on it. One the top of YahElite click on Info, Documentation, Commands, this will
Bring up a list of Commands on how to add a buddy to your Buddy
List or Remove yourself from someone elses
Buddy list etc.
Many things can be done by right-clicking
on a person’s name from the room list as well.
Play with the Program. It has many fun features that are not available
on other chat clients.
